The quality was far more than expected and after comparing prices with name-brand leather stores, I can say without a doubt that I paid half what I would have in a store. The leather is top-notch, not too soft but quality sturdy/thick. Nothing cheap about this. Zippers and pockets are great, no shortcuts there. I didn’t purchase this to ride, especially since I just sold my bike but always wanted a riding jacket (for my next bile, lol). If you want a riding jacket, you won’t find any better. I didn’t expect all the pads but they are certainly a huge plus and easily removable so you get the best of two worlds. This is NOT a light jacket, heavier than expected. CONS: the only disappointment is with its versatility from light to heavy. I was hoping the removable liner would allow use in all types of weather but the lining is very very flimsy, not sure it even makes a difference. Customer Review: “I got the Commuter Cafe Racer in medium, the smallest size available. I’m 5’11" and 155 lbs, with a slim surfer build. The shoulders, arms and neck fit perfectly, but the torso is boxy and way too roomy. I prefer a tapered, snug fit in the torso so the jacket doesn’t balloon when riding, or worse, shift up in a slide. Aside from the cut, the jacket itself is well designed and constructed. The inside is fully lined in mesh and smooth nylon. The bottom inside edge of the jacket has a Cordura strip for extra abrasion resistance. The leather is medium weight, very soft and supple. The flaps behind the cuff zippers are especially buttery soft! There are tons of pockets: 2 in the zip-out quilted vest, 4 inside the jacket (including the gun pocket), 3 outside the jacket. The gun pocket has elastic bands sewn on to hold the gun and a spare mag in place, but the backing is fabric and not that stiff so the gun and mag will sag. A strap of gunbelt leather anchored to the shoulder yoke and stitched inside the gun pocket to support the gun and mag would be ideal. The foam armor comes separately in a bag – note the larger pad is for the elbow, and the smaller pad is for the shoulder.”

Customer Review: “Size fitment: stayed true to size but every persons build is different. I’m not a big dude. 5’11” 150lbs and based off the size chart I ordered what it said would fit. I got a medium and it fit perfect. Little loose on the sides so I can wear it with a hoodie under it in the winter. Condition: I saw a lot of bad reviews due to pockets not being fully stitched or holes on arrival where seams met together, unfortunately that was my experience as well. Inside the concealed carry pocket it was separating a little bit but I believe it’s because they use a Kevlar type fabric that didn’t get folded over before being stitched together. But I got out the needle and thread and made the quick repair so other than that no issues on condition. Other: No funny smell, got the exact one I ordered, quality is definitely there for the most part aside from small section I fixed, no biggy though. Weight is good not heavy very comfortable, conceal carry pockets are great, they close with button snaps, have a place for ‘concealable’ and a place for magazine on both sides so it’s versatile, zipper is super smooth and feels good! Not worth knocking down any stars because I was able to repair small imperfections and for the price it is great!”

Armor inside folded in shipping and stuck out, took it out reversed it and still looked humpback, so it’s under a weight on a flat surface, I doubt I will use it just foam anyway. I am satisfied with it and pricing was low at $50 , phony baloney armor so took off a star for misleading ad. Seems to be good leather, time will tell”

Customer Review: “I was only expecting a cheapo jacket for that price. The jacket is made from real natural genuine leather, fits exactly as expected, and has removable body armor. I took a long ride while wearing it today and I have a few pros and cons to mention. The jacket is stiff and needs to be broken in, though that’s to be expected. It’s warm and great at deflecting the wind. The collar and ends of the sleeve are uncomfortable, but I expect they’ll improve with age. A great durable real leather jacket for the price of one made from PVC (or whatever they’re using now). I’d even say it’s a nice jacket in general without even considering the price.”

Customer Review: “A little lighter weight than some of my other old school racing coats – but it fits like a glove, the shape is very comfortable in an aggressive riding position for extended time. It has lots of pockets and a lot of Velcro – but the plastic zippers don’t have good action like metal and feel a little cheap. The liner keeps the wind and chill out when its 40 degrees out and foggy, but when the liner is removed this coat breaths through the arms at higher temps like a long sleeve T-shirt. The cut and style is excellent with rigid shoulder and elbow protection. The CE liners in arm, shoulder and back are removable and are shaped well. I painted my coat with a little reflective acrylic to add a little visibility and style to it. I really love it, and yeah – it gets compliments.”

Customer Review: “Its a black hoodie with 1/2" thick flexible pads stitched into the elbows and shoulders but its loose enough to be comfortable and warm. Its like a nylon jacket inside, so it is heavy and warm and water resistant. It also comes with an optional/removable spine protector that slides into the back vertically. Its like a 6 inch wide, half inch thick flexible pad that slides up in a velcro pocket that goes from shoulder blades to mid-lower back. I paid like 88 bucks on clearance. Very worth it. Fits well. I got a 5x because they said it runs small and I usually wear a 3x but there is plenty of room. Its not tight or anything and I have a 54" chest so it is very true to it's sizing. I think it says 56. I have another one coming tomorrow in the flannel variety. As far as washing, it says hand wash with like colors on cold, but I think I will just wash it separately on a gentle cycle. Nobody is hand washing their clothes like it's 1940. Drying, I might have to hang dry by fan until mostly dry and then tumble dry with no heat for the wrinkles for the last 10 minutes since those foam pads are in there. They will probably melt in the dryer or at the very least, twist around or make a polyurethane oil stain or something if put in a hot dryer for a good duration. Anyway, its warm, heavy, fits well, if not slightly loose like a hoodie should and the pads are not bulky enough to bother you. They are thin and flexible. I do notice that the back of the shirt length shortens a bit once that back pad is inserted.”

I probably wouldn’t like it in cold weather I’d definitely wear another sweater or jacket. I’m 5”10 165lbs and I wear a large and this large fit me exactly like a normal hoodie. It’s not bulky at all, it honestly looks like a normal hoodie even though the pads are pretty thick. Oh mine came with the back pad even though the ad said it didn’t. My buddies complain that the pads will move in a crash BUT they seem to be there more for the impact so you don’t shatter your elbows or smash your shoulders and I think they’ll work pretty good for that. It’s the Kevlar lining that’s going to help with road rash. I’d recommend this sweater. It’s an affordable and pretty good quality piece of safety equipment.”

Customer Review: “I bought this as a concealed carry jacket and it absolutely sucks for that. While the pocket is technically large enough for a full size pistol, the retention method is a piece of elastic like you’d find on a pair of tighty-whities. And it angles the pistol so its straight up with the barrel point down, so your hand has to find the pistol grip and pull up while your other hand pulls the jacket down so the pistol doesnt hang. And it prints… Horribly. It would be smarter to open carry than depend on this solution. Nevermind that if its just floating in your jacket with no retention or trigger guard there is a high chance of shooting yourself in the leg. I would strongly prefer a well secured leather strap in the pocket, with a buckle, at an angle, so all belt holsters could be used with various different pistols. So if it sucks sooo bad, why am i leaving a five star review? While the designers are obviously not gun people and never tested it for that purpose, the jacket itself is epic. Its not a high grade leather, BUT the Taylors made excellent craftsmanship decisions in hiding the natural imperfections in the leather in non obvious places. The marketing says its cow leather, but it feels thicker to me. Maybe Yak leather?? The jacket feels VERY heavy and fits like a second skin. The zipper is SAB, which one would think is a compromise, but its amazing. It actually feels smoother and more durable than YKK. I’ve had it for about a year and Im starting to get some wear marks on the leather, but for the price its holding up remarkably well. Its not water PROOF, but it is water resistant. If you zip it all the way up and tilt your clin down, the collar makes a decent seal with your helmet. I love that you can zip it all the way up for winter rides and zip it half way down in the summer for ventilation. This is not the best motorcycle jacket you can buy, but i believe it is the best value.”
