Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “Good looking, lightweight, comfortable helmet at an inexpensive price. Fast delivery too. Only downside is the visor hinge is very flimsy – Don’t lift it too far or it pops out of its tiny socket. (and you need 2 hands to pop it back in so it holds up your ride) Other than that, it’s a very good buy!”

Customer Review: “You have no idea how stoked I am to finally have found a brand alternative to Speed and Strength.S&S, by a longshot, manufactures the most durable, comfortable, high-quality, well-designed helmets on the market. Problem is, they’ve gotten more expensive and harder to find (especially in my size). I’ve pretty much given up on them as my go-to brand.I tried a 1Storm helmet a few months back. I wasn’t impressed. Design was awesome, shape of the helmet made me feel like an extraterrestrial riding around my motorcycle. When my last S&S helmet fell apart last Friday, I took a change on this brand and I’m super glad I did. I got the matte black helmet and installed the tinted visor and I have to say, it was so sick I couldn’t believe it was only $60. I was so stoked I was doing some ninja moves in my helmet and my dog was looking at me like I had lost my mind. What I like about this helmet:# It’s got a quick release strap# It’s soft on the inside# It’s breathable material; I didn’t feel or notice much sweat in my helmet which is impressive for the Arizona heat# It’s beautifully designed, I didn’t see any imperfections in the helmet design or finish# The tinted visor is REALLY tinted, like black-tinted not that stupid smoke color everyone tries to sell you. You have no idea the difference it makes while driving around in Arizona. Seriously. First, you can not escape the sun. And about half the day, it’s only agenda is to try and kill you by blinding you with its death rays. As soon as you drop that tinted visor down, you forget the sun is even there – that’s how harmless it feels. You would think that with as dark as the visor is, it would be hard to see. I know it’s so strange to say but the clarity of that visor is superb. It’s not dark at all from the inside, at least not like you would expect when you see the visor on the outside. It’s like looking at everything through some super, super clean sunglasses.# It’s just all around a very decent and reasonably priced helmet. What I don’t like about the helmet:# Who came up with the zipper idea?! I want to know because it can’t be someone that rides a motorcycle. I do not want a zipper around the base of my neck! If I want to cover my neck, I’ll just cover it with a jacket or something else. That’s not my helmet’s job or problem. Just stick to the stuff you got right and get rid of the zipper and I think you’ll have people coming back for years. I’m just glad it’s discreet but I still have to look at it every time I put my helmet on.Bottom line is:If you only ride occasionally or once in a blue moon, stick to the more expensive helmets – it’s better to be safe than sorry until the newer brands are put to the test. You’re not very likely to run through them that fast because you don’t ride as much. But if you ride every day like me, a simple drop of the helmet from hip-height walking down the hallway at work could impact or ruin its ability to protect you in the future if the material inside expands. Gets expensive so it becomes a bit more practical to choose a reasonably priced helmet because you end up having to buy 1-3 each year if you don’t treat them right.Get this helmet. Seriously. You’d be crazy not to sport this around town. Next paycheck, I’ll be getting another color. Can’t wait.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “Fits good and comfortable. Nice and light. Good strap.”

Customer Review: “Great helmet for riding, and I feel more protected rather than the half face or top helmets. The price is 30 dollars less than the almost similar one at Walmart. Only issue is figuring out how to switch visors the first time. Though it looks self explanatory that is all the information you have, booklet has no directions on switching visors. But easy once you figure it out, a bit harder if you’re a guy and no finger nails though.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I purchased this helmet as a budget-friendly full-face option, and I was honestly impressed with the overall quality for the price point. The helmet feels solid and well-built, especially considering it’s around the $90 range. The dual visor setup works smoothly, the padding is comfortable, and the interior feels better than expected for a helmet in this category. It also looks great in person — the matte black aqua color really stands out without being overly flashy. One important thing to note is sizing. This helmet runs a bit snug compared to others I’ve worn, so I would strongly recommend going one size up from your normal helmet size, especially if you’re between sizes. Because of the tighter fit, I ended up giving this helmet to my little sister, and it fits her perfectly and comfortably. Pros:-Excellent value for the price-Solid build quality-Comfortable interior padding-Smooth dual visor operation-Stylish design Cons:-Runs slightly small / snug-It is a bit loud at highway speeds Overall, this is an amazing helmet for the money. As long as you size appropriately, it’s a great option for street riding and a solid choice for anyone looking for a good-looking, comfortable helmet without spending a lot.”

Customer Review: “The HAX Obsidian Full Face Dual Visor Adult Motorcycle Helmet has been a great addition to my riding gear. From build quality to real-world performance, it delivers on all fronts. Fit & Comfort: Right out of the box the fit is snug, which some riders might notice at first—but that’s part of what makes it feel secure. After a few rides, it wears in nicely and becomes comfortable for longer journeys without pressure points. Dual Visor System: The integrated dual visor setup is a standout feature. The clear outer shield gives great clarity and protection, and the internal drop-down sun visor is smooth to deploy and perfect for bright days. Switching between them on the fly is intuitive and reliable. Safety & Build Quality: This helmet feels solid and well-constructed—the shell, liners, and retention system all feel thoughtfully engineered. Ventilation is decent, keeping airflow flowing without creating too much noise. Performance on the Road: Whether commuting or cruising highways, the Obsidian stays stable and confident at speed. Wind noise is competitive with helmets in this class, and visibility is good all around. Final Verdict: The HAX Obsidian Full Face Dual Visor Helmet is a great helmet—protective, functional, and comfortable once broken in. If you like a snug fit that settles into comfort over time, this helmet is worth serious consideration for daily riding or longer trips. Highly recommended.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “So here’s the thing: this helmet? Absolute champ. Me? Not so much. I had the pleasure of testing it the hard way when my bike hydroplaned in a sudden downpour. My head hit the ground like a Spotify ad between sad songs (sudden, jarring, and completely uncalled for), and I felt nothing. Not a headache, not a wobble, just pure “huh, neat! It works!” The rest of my body was…not as neat, but my brain was chillin. Even my glasses somehow stayed on my face. Fit-wise, the XL hugs my head like my mother never did. The dual visor is perfect for Florida’s weather mood swings (from “stormy gloom” to “OH MY GOD THE SUN” in 0.3 seconds). Ventilation? Solid. Padding? Comfy. Modular mouthpiece? Perfect for yelling “I’M OKAY” to concerned bystanders. Quick-release strap? Maybe not the Fort Knox of safety features, but it held up when I turned into a bowling ball, so I’m not complaining. If you want NASA-grade protection, you’ll pay NASA prices. But if you’re like me, broke but still emotionally invested in having a skull, this helmet’s the move. It keeps your noggin safe and your dignity mostly intact. Buying my replacement right now. Wish me luck, guys.”

Customer Review: “A decent bike helmet at a low price. Did save me when a car back rear ended me on an E scooter as I went flying forward. Only down side is it lacks breathability, great for winter and probably too hot for summer.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I recently purchased this helmet, and I am thoroughly impressed with its performance. One of the standout features is its affordability, making it a fantastic option for those looking for quality without breaking the bank. Despite the budget-friendly price, the build quality is exceptional. The materials feel sturdy and durable, offering a sense of security and reliability. The helmet fits comfortably and provides excellent protection, meeting all the safety standards I was looking for. Overall, it’s a great investment for anyone in need of a dependable helmet at an affordable price. Highly recommended!”

Customer Review: “Did tons of research looking for my first full-face helmet and ended up going with this LS2 Assault. Best combination of safety, price, style, and features out there. Includes all of my must-have’s such as active chin and top vents (in other words, vents that you can open & close unlike a lot of the Simpson’s,) retractable sun shade to eliminate the need for glasses when combined with the included clear visor, a pinlock ready visor, light weight, quick detach chin strap, and DOT & ECE approved. In addition to all that, it actually includes the pinlock shield! Plus, it has a unique KPA shell that is comprised of polymer mixed with aramid fibers which makes it both lightweight, flexible, and strong with penetration resistance too. Looks-wise to me it has that streetfighter style with the large flat chin and the aggressive brow vent lines similar in looks to the Simpson Outlaw & Speed Bandits. Lots of shell paint options including some wild graphics. I chose the Petra matte black/gray/graphite pattern, which just looks badazz and is different than all the plain matte blacks you see out there. This thing just oozes quality. My head is just over 60cm, which puts me just a hair over the Large size on the size chart. I’m glad I went with the XL because this thing fits my head perfectly. Yes, the cheekpads are very tight, but will loosen up after wearing it on a few rides. I am told that you definitely want to start out with tight cheek pads because they will conform to your face for a proper fit. So honestly I do not see what more you will get on a helmet costing hundreds more (Shoei, Arai, Schuberth, etc.,) because this LS2 has it all. And yes, it has the wrap around neck curtain and the flexible chin curtain, so it is about as quiet as a helmet can be with that nice seal. Lots of full-face helmet users complain about noise levels, which is just funny to me. You don’t know noise unless you come from my world of no-helmet or half-helmet usage. I have found this LS2 to be a lot quieter. Anyway, good luck with your decision…”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “This is a pretty nice helmet! I had been wearing a cheaper Triangle helmet for years, and following the general 5-year rule I decided it was time to replace. I’m glad I did! The pads in this one are much more substantial, and the shell feels sturdier while only being slightly heavier. It did feel pretty tight putting it on the first time, but after the pads have broken in a bit, it’s gotten more comfortable. Just be aware that it’ll probably feel a bit small if you’re coming from a helmet you’ve been wearing for a while. I appreciate the addition of the free tinted visor, and while I generally prefer to wear prescription sunglasses under a visor instead, it’s a nice option to have if I ever want to swap it out. I like the color a lot too – it seems like the vast majority of helmets are solid black or white, or an extremely ugly pattern of some kind. I like the simple matte olive green since it looks nice without cooking your head under the hot sun like my old black helmet did. The ventilation is good – it keeps your head cooler on warm days with the vents in the top and chin. They aren’t the best and you’re still going to get more effective ventilation by cracking your visor, but they do help. The vents are also styled in a nice subtle way that don’t make it look like you’re trying really hard to look like you’re from the future like a lot of the other cheaper ones. My biggest complaint is that the ear padding is really thick, and it’s hard to keep earbuds in if you’re wearing them while you ride. I have to cram my hands into either side to reposition them into my ears before I ride, which adds a solid 90 seconds of fiddling with the helmet every time before I get on. Another minor complaint is the nose redirection thing to keep your breath from fogging up the visor. If you have a schnoz like me, it’s going to hurt whenever you put the helmet on. Thankfully, it’s easy enough to pop out though. Overall, this is a really solid helmet! It’s on the higher end of the cheap no-name helmets, and I’m glad I sprung for the better quality one this time. I have a hard time justifying an expensive new one every 5 years, but a quality helmet at a good price point like this one encourages me to actually swap it out when I’m supposed to. Update after 4 months of near-daily wear: the biggest issue I have noticed with this helmet is the visor. The screw on the left side (while wearing it) has a tendency to come loose every couple of months and needs tightened. It’s only popped out once on me, but it’s a mild annoyance. I think it’s because the tab to lift it is on the left side, so every time you open the visor, it loosens that screw a tiny bit. It’s not enough to ding it a star as this has been a great helmet, but it’s something to consider.”

Customer Review: “I ordered this in large according to the size chart, tried it on inside my house and immediately thought it was too tight. Wore it for less than a minute and said nope. I suffer migraine syndrome, so I try not to provoke it with tight hats or helmets. I should have kept it on longer, though. I put it right back into the box and returned it. I then ordered another large by mistake thinking I got an extra large (dumb of me, I know). I got stuck with it and decided to try it on for a 30 minute bike ride. Wow! It does slide on tight around the ears, but I learned to pull the strap tight against the padding and get one ear at a time, then did the same with the other strap and two ears at a time without catching hardly at all. Problem solved. Once on my head, I actually forgot it was there when I road across town to a friends house and have her a hug. I head butted her, and again when I said sorry and tried to kiss her forehead… lol! So I found it to be super lightweight, comfortable, seemingly well made with nice materials. I took it on the highway and hear a slight whistle over 60mph, but personally I won’t be hitting the interstate often. This is my around town and work commute helmet. The reviews from others who have spilled, swear by it. I trust it, and it’s a nice helmet compared to the poorly designed helmets I’ve worn in the past. Great value! If yours feels tight but your sizing was right, try the strap method I spoke of and just go for a ride before you decide. I think a size up would have been wobbly and that would have been more of a noticeable problem. Oh, and the matte black finish matches my satin/matte black bike almost perfectly.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “Greeeeat helmet. I had a brake pad come off of a car in front of me on the highway. Helmet took it like a champ and saved my money maker! The company even helped with out with a warranty when the mouth piece broke off during that experience. If you live somewhere where the weather can cause condensation from your breath, look into getting a pin lock insert, with that installed the helmet has been made perfect for me. I enjoy the built in visor for when my sunglasses aren’t completely cutting it, and my sunglasses fit comfortably while wearing the helmet which is a huge pro for me. The only con would be wind noise, but I sit high on my bike where the windscreen isn’t blocking all of the air. I’ve also got long hair which breaks the seal around my neck, so at speed I notice the wind noise a lot more than just driving through the city. Could be me, could be the helmet, just something to be aware of.”

Customer Review: “The helmet is fantastic. I love the fit (comfortable) and the style. the color is great and the gloss looks fantastic. The value is perfect for what it costs. The ventilation is nice to have as well!”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “There have many reviews of this helmet so I am going to stick to what things I found. I wear a large in each of the Shoei helmets I have. This one is no exception though as my first full face, I found the fit to be really snug. Not uncomfortable mind you, but SNUG. It’s a bit of a process to get it on, again, not problematic in any way, but nonetheless a process. I find the field of vision to be no less than any of the open face Shoeis I have owned. The visor when down, cuts noise noticeably, but in warm/hot weather as in above 80 degrees, makes the helmet warmer. I generally wear a skull cap under the helmet to wick away perspiration and that helps. Ventilation is certainly adequate, but it’s not like the thing is going to be air conditioned. I tried the chin screen and found that it wanted to hang up on my nose when removing the helmet so I removed it completely. Others may have different experiences. Mounting my intercom headset presented come challenges. I have a GL 1800 and use the bike’s existing intercom system. The cutouts in the helmet seem a bit small for the speakers which came with the IMC Motocom intercom system I use. When I first mounted the speakers into the cutouts they pushed against my ears and I think this stems from the snug fit of the helmet. I skirted that issue by cutting up the round selfsticking velcro mounts for the speakers and making smaller pieces which I was able to put down into the cutouts and pressed the speakers down into the cutouts. That maneuver helped and essentially resolved the problem of the speakers pressing against my ears. The newer bluetooth communication setups may have smaller speaker which may fit into those helmet cutouts so you may not have the issue I had. A Pinlock antifog panel comes with the helmet and will eliminate any cold weather fogging. The Shoei RF-1400 is pricey, but I feel safer in a full face and the comfort, fit, and finish is there. Good buy and no regrets!”

Customer Review: “I wore a bunch of non-Shoei helmets when I was younger and poorer before splurging on an RF-700 back in the 90s. At the time, I bought it solely because it fit my giant head; I was tired of getting headaches on long rides from my other helmets. I quickly came to realize, though, that Shoei makes much nicer helmets than anything I’d worn previously, and that with the extra cost came extra quality. Since then, I’ve always replaced my Shoeis with another Shoei when they’d wear out. I’ve had a bunch, and they’ve all been excellent (except the Z-II, which just had an awful shape around the jaw). This is the best one yet. Most notably, the RF-1400 is REALLY quiet. It’s especially good at filtering out high frequency sounds, while leaving others audible. Like all RFs, it seems optimized for an upright/forward riding position, so I sometimes catch a bit of extra wind noise when I’m sitting way back on my cruiser. But, I can adjust that with a slight tilt of my head (or just better posture). I’ve taken a few long rides so far without my earplugs, and my ears feel better having worn the RF-1400 than with any plugs I’ve ever tried. Plus, it’s more comfortable and I can hear traffic/etc. around me better with just the helmet. It’s truly joyful to ride with this well-balanced sound. From reading the manual the inner padding is removable, too. I haven’t pulled them out yet for fear of messing something up, but I’ll definitely wash or replace them when they get grungy. Which they will – I’d love to wear a helmet liner to keep things clean, but due to my head size/shape I don’t have enough room to spare. On the down side, I find that the cheek pads are too tight for my face. I have a 60cm head, am relatively lean (6’2″ 195 lbs) and am wearing the largest XXL model, but it still presses on my face quite tightly. It doesn’t hurt, but neither is it comfortable. I see that you can replace the cheek pads with different sizes, but that the XXL already comes with the thinnest pads 🙁 I’m hoping they’ll crush down a bit with use. The lens is nice, as expected. The new style quick-release is tough to use compared to the older models, but it works well enough once you get the hang of it. The lens also comes with some weird add-on anti-fog system that, after reading and experimenting with, I can say with confidence that I’ll never use. The lens has some little studs for mounting that fog thingy that I wish weren’t there; they just get in the way when cleaning. When this lens wears out, I’ll see if I can get a normal one without the studs. There’s also some red fabric parts around the bottom edge of the helmet that spoil the look of the matte black shell (IMHO) – but, if the manual is correct, are actually important. Apparently by cutting through the red parts the EMTs can pull the rigid part of the helmet off of your head without moving your neck (as much, at least) if you’ve been in an accident. Hopefully I’ll never need that feature but I’m glad it’s there – and happy to have the bright red parts to let the EMTs know it’s there, too. This helmet is very expensive, but also very good. I think you can get equally safe helmets from other quality brands at a lesser price, so don’t feel that you need to make a deal with the devil to get a Shoei if you’re on a budget. If you have the means, though, you’ll appreciate the quality of the RF-1400, especially on those long touring rides when you pull into the gas station and realize that your ears aren’t ringing.”

Customer Review: “Great helmet just fits snug, you can probably go the same size as what you normally get but it will hurt a little until you break it in. All in all it’s amazing and doesn’t fog up. Looks better than the average helmet too. Will definitely get a backup for myself.”

Customer Review: “Helmet came with both the tinted and clear visor as intended, comes with a little bag to keep the helmet in when not being used which is a nice touch to prevent any unnecessary wear to the visor, the fit was exact from what was found on the size chart though I had to find it on their website, and the quick release is a wonderful touch when you don’t want to struggle around with taking it off. Overall a decent helmet, quality is good for the price and I obviously hope not to need to test the durability but we will see if that time ever comes!”

The helmet meets DOT safety standards, which gives me peace of mind knowing he has a decent level of protection. It feels sturdy, and the padding inside provides a snug yet comfortable fit. The tinted visor is a nice feature for daytime riding, helping to reduce glare. However, it might not be ideal for nighttime use, so having a clear visor as an option would be a plus. Ventilation is decent, keeping airflow manageable without excessive fogging. The helmet is also lightweight enough to avoid neck strain during longer rides. For an affordable full-face helmet, this one delivers on safety, comfort, and style. My son loves the design, and I feel confident that he’s well-protected on the road. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly helmet with solid features, this is a great choice.”

Complete Buying Guide for Icon Full Face Motorcycle Helmet

Essential Factors We Consider

When choosing an Icon full face motorcycle helmet, safety certification is the top priority. Look for DOT or ECE approval to ensure the helmet meets minimum safety standards. Fit and comfort are equally important; a helmet should feel snug but not tight, with adequate padding and ventilation to keep you cool. Features like dual visors, removable liners, and aerodynamic design enhance usability and comfort. Consider the helmet’s weight and noise reduction capabilities, especially for long rides. Finally, check the helmet’s durability and material quality — ABS and polycarbonate shells are common, while premium helmets may offer composite or carbon fiber shells for extra protection and weight savings.

Budget Planning

Helmet prices vary widely depending on features and brand reputation. Budget-friendly helmets are great for occasional riders but might lack advanced features or lightweight materials. Mid-range helmets offer better comfort, ventilation, and often additional safety features. Premium helmets come with cutting-edge technology, superior aerodynamics, and enhanced noise control but can be quite expensive. It’s important to balance your budget with how often and where you ride. Investing in a reliable helmet is worth it for your safety and comfort.

Final Thoughts

Choosing the right full face helmet can make a big difference in your riding experience. An Icon full face motorcycle helmet provides a good mix of safety, style, and features that suit riders of all levels. Prioritize fit and safety certifications, and consider features that match your riding habits. Whether you’re commuting daily or hitting the open road, the right helmet will keep you protected and comfortable. Remember, a helmet is an investment in your safety — don’t settle for less.
